1. Introduction
This manual is published by Gain Africa Investments (Pty) Ltd in support of the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 (“PAIA”) and the constitutional right of access to information.
PAIA may permit access to a record held by a private body where the record is required for the exercise or protection of a right, subject to the Act's procedures, grounds of refusal and applicable fees.

Subject to whether a record exists, is held by Gain Africa and may lawfully be disclosed, categories may include:

5. Records available without a formal PAIA request
Information made publicly available on this website may be accessed without a formal PAIA request, including the Corporate Profile, portfolio-company introductions, investment mandate, Governance Charter, Privacy and POPIA Notice, Terms of Use and this manual.
Publication does not waive copyright, confidentiality or other legal rights.
6. Request procedure
- Use the prescribed PAIA request form applicable to a record of a private body, available from the Information Regulator.
- Identify the requested record with sufficient detail.
- Identify the right the requester seeks to exercise or protect and explain why the record is required for that purpose.
- Provide the preferred form of access and contact details.
- Where acting for another person, provide satisfactory proof of authority.
- Submit the completed request to [email protected].
Gain Africa will process a valid request in accordance with PAIA and may seek clarification where the request is incomplete or insufficiently specific.
7. Fees and grounds of refusal
Any prescribed request, access, search, preparation, reproduction or delivery fee may apply. Gain Africa will notify the requester where a fee or deposit is payable.
Access may be refused where PAIA requires or permits refusal, including protection of personal information, commercial information, confidential information, safety, privileged material, research, security, legal proceedings or records whose disclosure would cause legally recognised harm. A record may also be unavailable because it does not exist or cannot be found after reasonable steps.
8. Remedies and complaints
Where a request is refused, the response will state the applicable basis and available remedy as required by PAIA. A requester may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator or approach a competent court in accordance with the Act and prescribed time limits.
9. Availability and languages
This website version is available in English. Gain Africa will consider reasonable requests for an accessible format or another language, subject to practicality and applicable PAIA requirements.
